She was born in Portugal, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (August) Ramos.
Eliza enjoyed knitting, sewing, and loved to cook. Her greatest joy was tending to her garden. She grew the most beautiful roses and the tallest tomato plants.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Doane of Suffield; a brother, Eric Lopes of Ellington; three grandchildren, Richard Doane and wife Cindy of Suffield, Laurie Schmehl of Tega Cay, SC and Thomas Doane of Windsor Locks; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Richie, Kyle, Eliza, Shane and Blake; and a great-great-grandchild, Sierra. She was predeceased by a brother, Adolf Lopes.
A Funeral Service will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
