F. R. (TED) PORTER, HIGHWAY EMPLOYEE, STRICKEN IN TRUCK

Frederick R. (Ted) Porter, 59, of Main Street, Bloomsbury, died of a heart attack at about 8:50 a.m. today in the cab of his parked truck along Route 22, about a quarter of a mile from Still Valley.
Mr. Porter was employed as a driver for the New Jersey Highway Department. Workers were removing a snow fence and loading it in the truck. When the work was completed, one of the workers went to tell Mr. Porter and found him dead.
The Phillipsburg Emergency Squad was summoned. Dr. James J. Sullivan, of Bloomsbury, pronounced the man dead.
Mr. Porter had been employed by the highway department for 32 years. He was a son of the late John S. and Kathryn Schamp Porter. His wife, the former Helena Welch, died in 1934.
He was a member of Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church and Loyal Order of Moose 45, Easton.
Surviving are two sons, John, of Bloomsbury, and Dale, of Washington; two daughters, Mrs. James Huff, of West Portal, and Mrs. William McCrea, of Flemington R.D.; four brothers, Frank, of Stewartsville, and Ellis, Clayton and Stacy, of Phillipsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Manners, of Phillipsburg, Mrs. Eva Bennett, of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Agnes Sheppard, of Harmony; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Rush Funeral Home, Bloomsbury.

Services for Frederick R. (Ted) Porter, of Main Street, Bloomsbury, were held this afternoon at the Rush Funeral Home, Bloomsbury. Mr. Porter died Wednesday in the cab of his parked truck along Route 22, about a quarter of a mile east of Still Valley.
The Rev. Stanert L. Dransfield, pastor of Greenwich Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment was in Greenwich Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Dieda, Lester Frankenfield, William Meyers, Arling Woolf, Herbert Tuxhorn and Paul Haney.
