Gaffney, S.C. - Charles Pearson Attaway, Sr., 76, of 1042 Pacolet Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his residence.

Born in Cowpens, he was the husband of Debra Newton Attaway and son of the late Clifton Adam Attaway, Sr. and Amanda Elizabeth Petty Attaway Sams.

Mr. Attaway was employed by Carolina Security Company, was a U. S. Army veteran, and was a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Charles P. (C. J.) Attaway, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Lynn Tessnear of Glendale and Debbie Duke Gordon of Phoenix, Alabama; two brothers, Danny Attaway, Sr. and wife, Margaret, and Clifton Attaway, Jr. and wife, Leah, all of Cowpens; a sister, Linda Ross and husband, David, of Cowpens; a son-in-law, Larry Tessnear of Chesnee; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Glenn Attaway.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pacolet Road Baptist Church, 1104 Pacolet Highway, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at the residence, 1042 Pacolet Highway, Gaffney.
