Jason Michael Rush was the son of Michael and Betty Rush. They were our best friends in the military. Mike and Betty could not have any children so they adopted a little girl. Not long afterward, they discovered they would now have another child. Jason Michael Rush was born November 5, 1971. He grew and developed like a healthy little boy for several years. They noticed that he did not have a lot of strength in his legs. Betty had a brother with muscular dystrophy. They tested Jason and discovered he had it also. He started school and was doing good. He suddenly had a lump in his hand. A biopsy showed that it was cancer. He had to be put to sleep to remove the entire lump. The doctor came out and said he was doing fine and would be in recovery shortly. We waited and waited. Finally they came back out and said that Jason had seizures and was being put in ICU. At this point we discovered that he was in a coma. He never woke and quietly stopped breathing on Feb 7, 1979. It was later determined that an anesthesia was used on him that should never be used on anyone with muscle problems.
He was the sweetest little boy. At about age four they were visiting with us and he hurt his finger. I told him to come here and let me kiss it. He did so and then looked at me and said, "Still hurts". I have never forgotten those words.
Jason was survived by his parents his sister, four grandparents, great grandmother, and many aunts and uncles.
Jason's parents later divorced and she moved to Nevada.
His Mother Betty developed breast cancer and had both breasts removed. She came to visit us Thanksgiving 2001. She went back to Nevada and shortly developed an inoperable brain tumor. She passed away in 2002.
