Raquette Lake, NY and Salem, NY- Eunice V. Kris Cummings, 61, a resident of Raquette Lake, and Salem, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 1, 1947 in Eureka, SD the daughter of the late Herbert and Viola (Rau) Ottenbacher, the youngest of four children.
She is survived by her loving husband Jay of 41 years; a daughter Holly DeMarsh and her husband Patrick of Galway, NY and her granddaughters, Nicole and Brittney DeMarsh. She is also survived by her sister, LaVerne Neuharth and her husband Alfred of Eureka, SD; her brothers, Herman Ottenbacher and his wife Denise of Watertown, SD and Arnie Ottenbacher and his wife Donna of Aberdeen, SD and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 2:30 pm at the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, 228 Crosby Blvd., Old Forge, NY with Rev. Lawrence Bartel officiating. Interment will be held privately for the family.
A local tribute to Kris will be held later in the fall in Salem, NY at a date, time and place to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, a request that Kris made was for her family and friends to remember a shut in with a note or visit someone to let them know you care. Memorial contributions in memory of Kris may also be made to High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box 840, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 OR Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 OR C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801."
