Death: Aug. 8, 1915

Hannah is my son's 3rd paternal Gr-Grandmother through her daughter Erie Edith (Dungey) Dougall (b: 1873).

The first of nine children born to William and Margaret (Karr) Scogin of Butler Co OH and late of DeWitt Co IL, Hannah married John Wesley Dungey sometime before July 1860, probably in DeWitt Co IL. They had eight children, two sons and six daughters. There may also have been two children who died at birth.

The Scogin surname may originally have been a Swedish name, spelled either Schoggen or Schaggen.

Hannah's maternal grandparents are Walter Sr and Margaret (Weller) Karr who married in 1803 and settled in DeWitt Co IL about 1813. Walter Karr Sr is the son of Capt John and Mercy (Lee) Karr. Capt John Karr served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in the NJ Militia; he also served in the War of 1812 as a Captain in the OH Militia. Capt John Karr is a descendant of Sir Walter Kerr, an early colonist of NJ.
