US Soccer Hall of Fame. 1950 United States World Cup team. Original name: Frank Valicenti. Best known for his participation as a starter on the 1950 US team that beat England 1-0 in the World Cup, considered by many to be the biggest upset in soccer history. He was played by Jay Rodan in the 2005 movie "The Game of Their Lives" (aka "Miracle Match") about the 1950 team. He was elected to the US Soccer Hall of Fame in 1976. (bio by: Kenneth Gilbert)
