| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | Sep. 22, 1927 | Earl Graham was a 16-year-old jockey when he was thrown from a horse named Vesper Lad and mortally wounded at Winnipeg's Polo Park racetrack. Working conditions for jockeys at the time were horrible: Racetrack officials denied Graham medical attention and refused to pay for a cab to the hospital. The jockeys passed around the hat but did not have enough money for Graham's treatment. Graham died from his injuries shortly thereafter. The incident is detailed in "Seabiscuit." (Page 74.)
