Migrated here in 1837 from New York state, with his wife and children. They came first to Detroit via wagon, canal boat and sailing vessel and then again traveled by wagon to the vicinity of Rives Junction, which was not yet a settlement. Mr King took up a great many acres of land in and around Rives Township Sec 16 from the government on 31 May 1842.
