Adrian Austin Scares, 17, of East St. Middletown, died Thursday, (March 15, 2001) at New Britain General Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in New Haven, son of Austin and Arlene (Lima) Soares of Middletown.
He was a junior at Middletown High School. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Jack A. Soares II of Middletown; paternal grandparents, Jack and Ostina (Isom) Soares of Providence RI; maternal grandmother, Florence Lima of Providence RI; and several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with services at the Cross Street AME Zion Church with Rev. Moses L. Harvill, officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown Monday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Middletown High School, 311 Hunting Hill Ave. Middletown, CT. 06451 in care of Adrian A. Soares Scholarship Fund.

BERLIN — Police have identified the victim of a fatal car accident Thursday night as Adrian Soares, 17, of 737 East St., Middletown.

Soares was driving on Route 372 near the Route 9 overpass at 7:20 p.m. when he crossed lanes and slammed head-on into another vehicle, police said.

FOR THE RECORD - Correction published 3/22/01. The driver of the car involved in an accident March 15 on Route 372 near the Route 9 overpass in Berlin was Ronald Ghezzi, not Adrian Soares. Soares, who was killed, was a passenger in the car. Their names were switched in a story Saturday
