A 70-year-old local man was killed when his car crashed into a stone wall on Black Hill Road shortly after noon on Wednesday, police said.
Alexis F. Korrecta, of 21 Black Hill Road, was unresponsive when police arrived at the scene of the crash, and medical personnel started CPR. He was taken to the Plainfield Backus Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Korrecta was traveling west on Black Hill Road at about 12:30 p.m. when his 2006 Ford Ranger apparently veered off the road, crossed the lawn at 220 Black Hill Road and hit the stone wall, police said. He was the only person in the car

Alex F. Korrecta August 16, 1943 - April 10, 2013 Plainfield - Alex F. Korrecta, 69, of Black Hill Rd. Central Village beloved husband of Leona (Bessette) Korrecta passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Alex gave in death as he gave in life- Alex was a tissue donor. He was born August 16, 1943 in Oneco a son of the late Henry and Exilda (Bissonnette) Korrecta and had resided in Plainfield for most of his life. Alex was a U. S. Army veteran having served with the Third Armored Rifle Battalion in Mannheim, Germany, and was also with the 82nd Airborne Rangers. He was employed by the former Pervel Industries, the Plainfield School Department and was currently working for the Canterbury School Department. Alex had been a coach for the Jets, Micro Midget Football and also coached Plainfield Senior League Baseball. Besides his wife he leaves a son and daughter in law John and Donna Korrecta of Moosup; two daughters Laurie String and her husband Charles of Plainfield and Tina Young of Moosup; four grandchildren Matthew, Elizabeth and Hannah String and Ashley Martinez. A brother Henry Korrecta of FL. A sister Stella Faunce of Plainfield. Also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Sylvia Pike. Memorial visiting hours will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 1-4 P.M. at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home 595 Norwich Rd. Plainfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to America's Vet Dogs, 371 East Jericho Tpk. Smithtown, NY. 11787-2976.
