Deceased Name: Walter Bryce dies rites set Saturday Walter Bryce, chief executive officer of Bryce Insurance Agency Inc. died today after a long illness. He was 71.
Funeral services, being arranged by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Twelve and Twelve Transition House, Kelley High School endowment fund or Christ the King endowment fund.
In 1949, Bryce founded the insurance firm, which is one of the largest independent insurance companies in Oklahoma, said his son Robert Bryce.
The elder Bryce was born in Tulsa. He received a bachelor's degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
He was a Marine Corps pilot who served in the Pacific in World War II. Bryce was awarded a Silver Star .
He was named to direct the 1960 Tulsa County Cancer Crusade. His memberships included the Million-Dollar Round Table
and the Civitan Club. He was vice president of Mutual Agents Association and of Guaranty National Center, and director of the Tulsa unit of American Cancer Society.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Ann Mahoney Bryce; sons Dick Bryce, Wally Bryce, Robert Bryce and John Bryce; daughters Eileen Bryce and Mary Bryce Fox; sisters Margaret Edwards and Rita Burns of Tulsa, Mary Charles Bryce of Oklahoma
City, Roseann Sanders of Raleigh, N.C., and Phyllis Brandt of Farmers Branch, Texas; and brothers, the Rev. Phillip
Bryce of Yukon and Charles Bryce of San Angelo, Texas.
