Mr. Jimmy Franklin Pinkard, Sr. age 75 of Rockmart, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015. Mr. Pinkard was born on October 18, 1939 in Polk County, son of Rena Mae Elizabeth Clark Pinkard and the late Jim Pinkard. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon and church clerk. He retired from the Floyd Medical Center with ten years of service having worked in the maintenance department. Mr. Pinkard was a former Rockmart City Councilman and owner of Jimmy F. Pinkard Public Tax Accounting. Jimmy was often referred to around town as "Abe".
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Diane Marchbanks; and a brother, Mr. Billy Pinkard.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and David Duke of Armuchee and Tracey and David Duke of Cedartown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim "Sonny" and Angie Pinkard of Adairsville and David and Ginger Pinkard of Cedartown; mother, Rena Mae Pinkard of Rockmart; a sister, Jackie Akin of Atlanta; two brothers, Harold Pinkard of Cedartown and Gary Pinkard of Dallas; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Pinkard will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Jim "Sonny" Pinkard officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Russell officiating.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Levi Carter, Cole Duke, Luke Pinkard, Dylan Pinkard, Daniel Hunter and Kris Anderson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Pinkard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, March 31st between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
