Arrived in America in January of 1847 from Nederhausen, Germany. He was 18 years old.
Valentine founded Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, Louisiana about 1860. He operated it until he passed away.
According to the familysearch.org website for the 1880 US Census he listed his job as a carpenter.
An article in the Franklin Post, Franklin, La. dated January 27, 1977 states that Valentine Ibert served in the United States Armed Forces for a period of one year. Enrolling in 1865 he was honorably discharged on March 7, 1866. A pension earned as a result was signed by President James R. Garfield.
