Mr. Chester Claude Baudoin was born in Youngsville, Louisiana outside of Lafayette. In the early years of the war he taught cadets how to fly at Garner Field in Uvalde, Texas. Then he was sent to India and became one of many pilots to fly the "Hump" in the United States Army Air Corps and flew gasoline supply missions over the Himalayas during the China-Burma-India Theater of the war to Chennault's Flying Tigers. He came back to the United States and opened up a liquor store in downtown Franklin, Louisiana and then entered law enforcement in 1952 and became chief deputy of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department until his election as Sheriff of St. Mary Parish in 1964 and then won four other terms as Sheriff and retired in 1984.
