He moved to Columbus, OH in the late 1930's to work. He married Martha C. Medert on Sept. 16, 1939. He was in the Army in World War II, serving time in the European Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. He and his family moved to Indianapolis in 1948.
He was the franchise owner-operator of Keystone Readers Service from 1948 to 1972. He was later employed by Vonnegut Hardware and A&B Hardware of Lawrence, IN and retired in 1996. He was a longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon and Elder.
He and his wife were the leaders of the Prime-Timers for their church. In his retirement he did woodworking and enjoyed making step stools and birdhouses for family and friends. He also did many projects for his church. Earl greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening and writing prose and poetry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Martha, son Ross J. King (Beth) - Indpls., daughters Janice Dahlstrom (Mark) - Kenosha, WI, Jeanette Abramo (Joe) - Indpls., brother Jim King (Karleen) - Dayton, OH, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
