Loretta Alice Zillifro, was born 7 August 1871 in Venango County, Pennsylvania to Rebecca and Egbert Terwilliger Zillifro. It is believed that her mother, Rebecca, died in childbirth. Her father, Egbert married Sarah Ellen Willis shortly after Loretta's birth and had 11 more children.
Loretta was well schooled in nursing and also was taught Morse code telegraphy by an Uncle that worked for the railroad in Butler County. She was a member of the Red Cross, American Legion, and a Silver Star mother. Loretta was "burnt out" at least three times and helped take care of the terminally ill at the Johnstown flood disaster. She also assisted in a flu epidemic in Ellwood City.
She married Alexander Campbell Hutchinson and they had eight children; five survived and three deceased. Loretta left her husband, Cam, and was granted a divorce on 25 September 1912.
Loretta was accidentally struck by a car as she stepped around a large commercial grass mower.
