Port Wentworth - Nathaniel Creasy, 81, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Hospice Savannah. Mr. Creasy was born on June 22, 1925, in Wayne County, Tenn. He was the son of James Thomas Creasy Sr. and Safronia. He grew up in Nevils. He served for eight years in the U.S. Merchant Marines, was a retired steelworker and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth. He was the Grand Marshal of this year's "Stand Up For America Day" parade in Port Wentworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark Creasy; his brothers, J.T., Melvin, Lorenzo, Veasy and Obren Creasy; and his sisters, Cymenthy Crawford, Grace White and Melva NeSmith.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Vera T. Creasy of Port Wentworth; brothers, Franklin Creasy of Valdosta and Robert Creasy of Loganville, Ga.; sister, Hazel Roughton Harvey of Lexington, Ky.; and 34 nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth with burial to follow in the Nevils United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nevils. Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home - West Chatham Chapel
