Earl Raymond (Ray) Eggert, Jr. passed away August 19, 1997, in Sandy of causes incident to age.
Born in Dighton, Kansas on October 1, 1909 to Earl Raymond Eggert and Gertrude Bessie Hyames. Married Bernadine DeMass in 1938. Later divorced. Married Bea Brumbaugh in May of 1952. She died August 15, 1956. Married Mary Lucille McMillan, March 6, 1958, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Ray spent his early years in Dighton. At the age of 23, he moved to Southern California where he was a barber and worked in a defense plant during World War II. His love of fishing and the outdoors led him to buy Navajo Lake Lodge near Cedar City, Utah. He operated this resort for 20 years. He then moved to Murray, Utah where he sold real estate until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, playing tennis and was always physically active and loved to travel. He will be remembered by his family and friends as being honest and fair, was also a great cook and a spellbinding, story-teller. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was a dedicated and loving husband who cared for Mary until his death.
Survived by wife; step-son, Jack (Mary) DeMass, Murray; sister, Betty Freeman, Lake Isabella, CA; six grand-children, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 1997, 1 p.m., Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State, Murray, where family and friends may call Sat. 12-12:50 p.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
