Judith Rebecca Wheeler, daughter of Abijah Clement and Sophia Wiswell Wheeler, was born in Kane County, Illinois, March 16, 1871.

The family immigrated to Kansas soon after- that, finally locating in Ottawa County about 1878 on a farm west of Delphos.

Mrs. Baldwin attended the Kansas Christian College at Lincoln, Kansas, and taught several terms of school in Lincoln, Cloud, and Ottawa counties.

On November 26, 1891 Judith Wheeler and Edgar E. Baldwin were united in marriage. To them were born three children, who with Mr. Baldwin, survive her passing. Mrs. Baldwin passed away at her home in Minneapolis, May 19, 1953 after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Baldwin early united with the Christian
church and later transferred her membership to the Methodist church. She was always a faithful member of the church and Sunday school and active in all the departments of the church so long as her health permitted.


Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her husband Edgar E. Baldwin; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth B. Austin of the home and Mrs. Marc Henry, of Minneapolis; one son, Everett Baldwin, of Grand Valley, Colorado; two brothers, A. C. Wheeler, of Hutchinson, and S. B. Wheeler, of Downey, California; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Minneapolis Methodist church Friday afternoon, Rev. Joseph A. Buckles officiating. Karl Will sang, "Beyond the Sunset," "Ivory Palaces" and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Louis. Cooper.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Austin, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Virgil Umbarger and Ralph Umbar-ger, of Ada, Merrill Henry, Bill Henry and Bob Henry, of Minneapolis. Burial was in Fairview cemetery at Ada.
