Dewey H. Briggs, 81, of Springer, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, in Walsenberg, Colo. He was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Paducah, Texas, the son of Royce and Mona Armbruster-Briggs. Dewey was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired bus driver for the public school system, a member of the French Tract Volunteer Fire Dept and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Springer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and his parents.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Padilla of Springer and Joy Comstock and husband Tom of Grand Terrace, Calif.,; one son, Steven Briggs and wife Linda of Springer; two brothers, Albert Briggs and wife Betty of Los Lunas and Don Briggs and wife Pat of Chandler, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Springer with Pastor Jerry Johnson officiating.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Dewey H. Briggs are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
