Phyllis Jean Rowell Floersheim, 85, of Roy, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at her home. She was born February 25, 1925 in Watertown, N.Y., the daughter of Harry and Mabel Britton-Rowell.
Phyllis received her nursing degree from Deaconess in Buffalo, N.Y. She was the Director of Nurses at the Springer Hospital for 34 years and Director of Harding Home Health for 12 years. She was a member of the Roy Federated Woman's Club for more than 30 years and she was a member of O.E.S., which she and her husband Allen joined in 1953. Phyllis was New Mexico's one and only O.E.S. Treasured Angel in 2003, New Mexico's First Spirit of O.E.S. award recipient in 2006 and Grand Ruth in 1991.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Allen B. Floersheim, her parents Harry and Mabel Rowell, and one sister, Doris Goff.
She is survived by one son, Bary Floersheim of the family home; one daughter, Brenda Rigoni of Roy; granddaughter Diane Neiss and husband Jason of Las Vegas, Nev.; three great grandchildren Jacob, Shane and Amber; especially beloved niece Judy Schneider and husband Randy; great nephews Jason and wife Nikia, Daniel and wife Jolee, Phillip and Megan; one cousin, Betty O'Neil of Great Bend, N.Y.; and very special friends Jerry Phillips of Clayton and Rudolfo Ulibarri of Albuquerque.
Memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Roy with Pastors Ray Clark and Litton Logan officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Mexico Grand Chapter Benevolent Fund or New Mexico Make a Wish Foundation.
Arrangements for Phyllis R. Floersheim are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
