Dr. Richard H. Clough, Sc.D., 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 30, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Janet L. Chapman and husband, Michael Malone and grandson, Steve R. Chapman, all of Albuquerque. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jean of 45 years and his son, Kenneth, who was killed in Vietnam. Richard was born in Springer, New Mexico on August 25, 1922. He was a descendant of a pioneer New Mexico ranching family. Richard graduated from Albuquerque High in 1939. He obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico, his M.S. from the University of Colorado and his Sc. D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Richard served as Torpedo and Fire Control Officer on attack submarine, the U.S.S. COD, during World War II. Decorated. He served as Executive Vice President of Lembke, Clough and King Construction Co. Richard was a professor for 32 years at the University of New Mexico where he was also Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Dean of College of Engineering. He was a member of several organizations: Member of Board of Directors, Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, Member and Chairman of the New Mexico State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and a Member and President of New Mexico Section, American Society of Civil Engineers. He received Service awards from Associated General Contractors of America and National Society of Professional Engineers. Richard was author and co-author of two well known text books on construction contracting and management. By his request no services will be held.
