William Glenist Minick, 79, died Monday afternoon in Statesboro Nursing Home after a long illness. The Saluda, S.C., native lived most of his life in Statesboro. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II where he received the Purple Heart. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one brother, Obed Minick, Statesboro; and two sisters, Ruth M. Smith and Louise M. Sutton, both of Savannah.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home with Elder Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Brooklet City Cemetery.
