STATESBORO - John Ivey Coursey, 54, formerly of Elabell, died Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Coursey was a lifelong resident of Ellabell until moving to Statesboro two years ago. He retired from the Georgia Ports Authority as a maintenance mechanic and was a member of Elmer Baptist Church of Statesboro. Mr. Coursey was also an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Regal Hunting Club. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors: his wife, Kim Coursey; one son, John Landon Coursey; and two step-daughters, Christina Akins and Amanda Akins, all of Statesboro; and one sister and brother-in-law, Janette and Tommy Rogers of Pembroke.
Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dan Bryant officiating.
Burial: Northside Cemetery.
