Joun Oscar Coursey, 82, of Ellabell died at St. Joseph's Hospital early Thursday after a long illness.
-
He was a native of Laurens County but had lived in Ellabell for the last 40 years. He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War I, and a deacon of the Lawrence Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, John Ivey Coursey of Ellabell; a daughter, Mrs. Janette Rogers of Ellabell; a brother, the Rev. George B. Coursey of Lyons; two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Harmon of Savannah, and Mrs. Mary Odum of Lyons; and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lawrence Baptist Church with burial in the North Side Cemetery in Pembroke. Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge.
