Martha Pauline, daughter of Oswin and Louisa Weber, was born September 13, 1889, in the Fancy Creek neighborhood and lived her entire life in this community. She attended Winkler and Heller rural schools.

One son, Ralph, died in service with the U. S. Army Air Corps in southern France in World War II. There are nine grandchildren: one brother, Ort Weber; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Shellenbaum, Alma Weber, and Mrs. Louis Kelp of Leonardville.

Mrs. Hagenmaier passed away March 19, 1949, at the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 6 days from her home in Randolph. Her life was a example of unselfish service for others. The door of her home was always open to welcome not only her own children but all her friends and neighbors. Scores join hearts of sympathy with those who are bereaved.

MRS. WILL HAGENMAIER TAKES OWN LIFE

Mrs. Martha Hagenmaier, 59-year-old Randolph housewife committed suicide Saturday in her home.

Mrs. Hagenmaier's death was officially termed a suicide by Dr. W. H. Clarkson, Riley County Coroner. The suicide was the second to occur in Riley county in the past month. "Mrs. Hagenmaier's death was the result of self-administered poison, with definite intent to commit suicide," said Dr. Clarkson.

According to Sheriff B. E. Deckert, the woman woke her husband at 3 a.m. Saturday and told hem she had drunk DDT and Black Leaf-40. A local physician was called. After examining Mrs. Hagenmaier, the doctor immediately returned to his office to obtain a stomach pump, but by the time he returned the woman was dead.

Deckert said that the husband said his wife had been mentally depressed for some time. Less than a year ago, Mrs. Hagenmaier's brother, Arthur Weber, committed suicide in an identical manner.

Surviving Mrs. Hagenmaier are her husband, W. H. Hagenmaier; three sons, Oswin, Arthur and Earl of Randolph, two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Peter, and Mrs. Fern Berggren, also of Randolph, threes sisters, Mrs. Laura Shellenbaum and Miss Alma Weber of Randolph and Mrs. Arthur Kulp of Leonardville; and one brother Ort Weber of Randolph.

Funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Methodist Church at Randolph. The Rev. Rector Green did officiate at the service with the Chelander-Eshbaugh funeral home in charge. Interment will be in the Fancy Creek Cemetery.
