IN MEMORY OF THE BOYS IN GRAY WHO GAVE THEIR ALL FOR THE CONFEDERATE CAUSE AT THE BATTLE OF ISLAND NUMBER 10 IN APRIL 1862.
ERECTED BY LAKE COUNTY "TENN 200" COMMITTEE 1996.
In this cemetery, following the siege and capture of Madrid Bend and Island number 10, about 75 confederate dead were interred. Others were buried on the island itself. Channel changes have now joined the island to Missouri. (TN Historical Commission)
