Herbert R. Botkin, 77, 411 N. Madison St., died in a hallandale, Fla., hospital Wednesday morning, apparently the result of a heart attack. Mr. Botkin had been spending the winter months in Florida since the death of his wife, Vi, in 1958.
Born in Randolph County, the son of Lewis and Cora Meeks Botkin, he moved to Muncie in 1911. For 17 years, he was employed at the Merchants National Bank. For another 10 years he was Receiver for National Banks and Liquidator of Banks for Conptroller of Currency, Washington, D.C., and State Banking Department for the state of Michigan. He had been, also, secretary-treasurer of the Federal Savings and Loan Company of Bunchanan, Mich. More recently he had been associated with the A-1 Improvement Co.
He was a member of Delaware Lodge 46, F and AM.
Surviving are a brother, Joseph Botkin, Randolph County, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Meeks Mortuary with Rev. A.W. McDavitt officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn near Maxville.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 3 p.m. Thursday.
