Some additional information: It is likely that Edward M. Stannard was born about 1821 in Durham, Greene County, New York, where his sister, Lucinda was said to have been born in 1817. This information comes from an 1885 history of Portage County, Ohio where Lucinda was living and where her father Eliakim died.

Edward M. Stannard was one of nine children. His parents were Eliakim Jr.(born: May 16, 1786) and Frances Stannard (born: March 22, 1970). His grandparents were Eliakim Sr. (born: August 31, 1758) and Bethia Kelsy Stannard (born: July 15, 1759, of Puritan stock, both natives of Connecticut.

Edward and Mary,lived in Springville, Indiana. Their children were: Platt H. Stannard 1850-1884, Melchert Zearing Stannard, 1856-1919 Edward Charles "Charlie" Stannard 1852-1941,Jeremiah Hart "Park" Stannard 1859-1929,and Francis "Frank" Orlando Stannard 1861-1930.
