Raymond Stivers Jr., 65 of Spencer, passed away at Bloomington Hospital Wednesday, April 7, 2010. He was born June 9, 1944 in Bloomington to Raymond Sr. and Ruby (Sims) Stivers.
He attended Unionville High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He worked at Cowden and Son Trucking for 25 years and then for the Owen County Highway Department for 12 years. Raymond served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and Local 135 Teamsters in Bloomington. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and working on cars.
Mr. Stivers is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana (Davis) Stivers, a son, Allen (Kathy) Stivers of Spencer, a daughter, Tammy (Scot) Lowe of Spencer, three brothers, Morris Stivers of Standford, Mike Stivers and Larry Stivers both of Bloomington, three sisters, Jean Stivers, Janice Stivers, and Wanda Ludwig all of Bloomington, and three grandchildren, Tyler Lowe and Stephanie and Austin Stivers.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Dorothy Hall, June Owens, Butch Butcher, Jim Stivers, and Claude Stivers.
Funeral services will be held 2pm at Church of God of Prophecy, Saturday, April 10, 2010. Pastor Tammy Lowe will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
