Eloy O. Garcia, 78, of Sunnyside passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Yakima Memorial Hospital. He was cared for by his wife, sons and their families for the last seven years after having been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

He was born June 30, 1932 in La Sara, Texas. He attended school in Mercedes, Texas.

In his early years, Eloy traveled throughout the country working the fields as a migrant farm-worker. He traveled to Washington state in 1952, where he met and married the love of his life, Aurora. Eloy and Aurora made their home in Sunnyside, where they raised their three sons, David, Gilbert and Daniel.

Eloy lived a long life filled with devotion to his entire family.

He was characterized as a quiet, hardworking man that loved to work in his garden. He was known for his humor and sharp wit. He would often be seen throughout town on his long walks. Upon the birth of his first granddaughter and the birth of each grandchild thereafter, he was filled with a great sense of pride and demonstrated his love for them in many ways.

He loved to play the harmonica for them and for his many nieces and nephews.
