Company C - 55th Regt. Virginia Infantry - CSA
He snatched a U.S. Flag from a downed Yankee Captain at Gettysburg.
Of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, he enjoyed the highest regard and confidence of people. To know him was to love him. So gentle and unassuming was he, it seems difficult to picture him in your mind's eye in a position so fraught with daring and imminent peril. His so admirable qualities enlisted the spontaneous praise of the enemy.
