Simeon Walton was the Regimental Commander of the 23rd Virginia Infantry in the Confederate States Army. He fought at the battles of Winchester, Seven Days, Manassas, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. He was killed at the Battle of Payne's Farm in the Mine Run campaign. Walton was a physician, who when he enlisted in May of 1861, went to fight. The 1849 graduate of Jefferson Medical College refused a medical assignment. He had been wounded four times before he was killed.
