George was salesman before the war. He enlisted 21 May 1861 at Prince Edward Court House for 1 year and was absent sick 12 September 1861. He reenlisted for war on 12 April 1862 and was promoted to 3rd Corporal. George transferred to Company F of the 18th regiment of Virginia Infantry in January of 1863. He was paroled on 1 April 1865. After the War he became a cabinet and casket maker. George married Cordelia Rice Calhoun 21 December 1865, the widow of John L. Calhoun of Co. D, 18th Virginia, who was killed in Pickett's Charge. George's brother, Thomas Clibourne of Company G, 23rd, was mortally wounded at Chancellorsville. It is unknown to me why he has a Union marker and not the traditional Confederate.
