Leonard B. Medvitz, age 82, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 18, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.

Born November 3, 1925, in Brownfield, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Andy Medvitz and Veronica Ondrus Medvitz.

Leonard was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church and a very devoted member of the Church Choir for many years.

He graduated from the now former South Union High School in the Class of 1943 and worked for several years at the now former A&P Grocery Store in Uniontown.

Leonard was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served during World War II in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the 3rd Marine Air Group, 1st Division in Luzon Philipines and later in Peking China, working on court martial cases.

Leonard loved to sing! He was a member of The Barber Shoppers and sang with the group called "The Unaccounted Four". He was also in the church choir and at Midnight Mass each Christmas he sang "Oh, Holy Night" as a solo. He met his wife when they both sang tenor in the church choir.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and collected coins as a hobby, and his vegetable garden was second to none.
