Theresa was born on May 20, 1902, on a farm south of Sleepy Eye. When she was eight years old she moved to a farm north of Sleepy Eye in what was then Golden Gate, a small township that went out of existence with the railroad going through Sleepy Eye.
On May 5, 1925, Theresa was married to Ervin Annen and thus became Theresa Annen from Theresa Weiss. She and Ervin lived on a number of farms around Courtland and Norseland.
In 1947, Theresa and Ervin retired from farming and moved to New Ulm. It was here that she began her career in the food industry. She spent her first nine years working at Eibner's, first as a cook then becoming a celebrated cake decorator. In 1956, she became a partner in a bar and fine dining restaurant, the Vogue Café, located in Brainerd.
In 1964, Mrs. Annen moved to Richfield to live with her son, Robert. Since then she has lived with Robert and his wife, in Detroit, Mich.; Brussels, Belgium; Plymouth, and Alexandria, Minn.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary and husband, Vern Hanson of Columbia Heights; sons: Donald and wife, Virginia of Kansas City, Mo., Robert and wife, Vivian of Alexandria; sister, Lucille Bertrand of St. Paul; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
"Grandma," as she was affectionately known by all who know her, was loved by all. Her love, caring and compassion for all is her enduring trademark.
