Myrtle Opal Alexander Herod, 94, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Myrtle was born March 2, 1916, in Bowie County to Milton and Rosa Lena Alexander. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a charter member of West Freeway Church of Christ. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Claude Herod, and one daughter, Carolyn Sue Herod Mitchell. Survivors: Daughter, Rosalyn Kay Herod Neely and husband, Frank; former son-in-law, William Mitchell and wife, Beddie; grandsons, Richard James Scheulen and wife, Tammy, and Jason Kyle Mitchell and wife, Tekie; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Richard, Brailee, Lexton and Kamden; great-great-grandson, Andrew; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
