Nancy was born in Prineville on Dec. 18, 1946, to William and Nova (Powell) Hendrix. She was raised by her grandparents; Nancy and William Hendrix.
She attended Ochoco Grade School, and graduated from Crook County High School in 1964.
Nancy married Arthur Cain and they later divorced. She lived in Burns for many years and worked in law enforcement as a police officer.
Nancy moved to Alameda, Calif. in the late 1970's, and worked for Alameda County Sheriff's Department. She retired in 2001 as a loss prevention officer for Long Drugs all over Northern California.
She loved being with her family and grandchildren. Nancy was a very good cook, and an avid reader — especially enjoying romance and mystery novels. She loved crossword puzzles, yard saling, and was a friend to many, many people wherever she lived.
Nancy is survived by her son, Preston Cain; and her daughter, Angie Cain -- both of Prineville; brothers, Buddy Robison of Prineville, Leon Shader of La Pine, and Robert Radford of Washington; sisters, Vicki Demaris of Roseburg, and Debbie Green of Washington; three grandchildren, Michael Cain of California, Kristina and Carlos Schollar of Portland, Ore., Anthony Cain of Wisconsin; four great-grandchildren; and many aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Arthur Cain; and one son, Lonnie Cain
