Walter Erwin Helferstine 95, of Prineville, Oregon passed away September 26, 2010. A private family memorial service will be held.

Walter was born May 11, 1915 in Coquille, Oregon to Grover C. and Bertha (Goodrich) Helferstine. He graduated for Bandon High School in 1936. He then entered The U.S. Army. Walter was a part of the Medical Corp. After his time in the service, he worked as an Electrician for Lockheed and Todd Shipbuilding in the Seattle, Washington area. He worked for them until his retirement on November 7, 1978. He moved to Bend, Oregon in 1995 and then to Prineville in 2010, so he could be closer to his family. Walter had a favorite saying "Every day is a good day". This saying described Walter and the way he lived his life.

Walter married Helen Cox.

Walter enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, cooking, helping his daughter on her sheep farm and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Walter is survived by his daughters Karen (Jimmie) Tipple of Prineville, Oregon; Pat (Jim) Reeder of Marysville, Washington; Judy (Michael) Watson of Sulpher, Louisana; grandchildren Chris Reeder, Tricia Harris, Jodi Carney, Lisa Lang, Lacy Johnston; and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.
