Ruth "Evelyn" Holzschuh, a Prineville resident passed away on Nov. 6, 2010. She was 89 years old.
At her request no public services will be held. Private family services will be held at Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Evelyn was born in Butler, Iowa on April 16, 1921 to Albert and Bessie (Yohn) Behnke. She moved to Washington in 1946 then to Portland, Ore. in 1966, then to Prineville in 1978. She married Ray Holzschuh on Oct. 29, 1937 in Austin, Minn.
Evelyn worked for McGee Truck Service in Milwaukee, Ore., then, in Prineville, she worked for Barr Groff and volunteered at Neat Repeat.
She was a member of the Crook County Historical Society, past member of Prineville Eagles Lodge, and enjoyed going on trips with the Crook County Historical Society.
Evelyn enjoyed sewing, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and painting, but mostly her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Bonnie K. and her husband Timothy Healy of Sweet Home, Ore. and Marjorie Henry of Prineville; son, Dale R. and his wife Carolyn Holzschuh of Gresham, Ore., brother, Ralph Behnke of Green, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (1991), and her sister, Myrtle.
