Death: Jan. 9, 1865

Residing in Braxton County, West Virginia at the time of enlistment. Enlisted on May 18, 1861 at Sutton, West Virginia as a Private in the 9th Virginia Infantry, Company C at the age of 31. Transferred on May 1, 1862 to the 25th Virginia Infantry, Company C. Promoted to Second Sergeant. Wounded in leg and chest on May 8, 1862 at McDowell, Virginia. Hospitalized with pneumonia on January 2, 1864. Hospitalized on February 7, 1864 with pneumonia at Gordonsville, Virginia. Transferred on February 15, 1864 to Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. POW on May 5, 1864 at Wilderness, Virginia. Confined on May 17, 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on August 10, 1864 to Elmira, New York. Died of pleuro-pneumonia as a POW.
