Dahlia D'Arpini
Dahlia D'Arpini 46, died shortly after being admitted to Memorial Hospital Unit. She had been ill the past 10 years and seriously ill the past three months. Funeral services were held in the funeral home and at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Perkowski officiated.
The daughter of Saturno A. and Clara F. (Rodey) D'Arpini, she was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Monroe. She was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Surviving are her parents, three brothers, Harold A., Saturno A. (John), and Robert J., all of Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Leo (Eva A.) Denno of Monroe, five nieces, five nephews, and a great-niece. Dahlia was laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle, Mi. and pallbearers were: Gene Germani,Sr., Gene Germani, Jr., Albert Gilsdorf, Sr., Albert Gilsdorf, Jr., Douglas Denno, and Clemens Gilsdorf.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAHLIA
Dahlia was a sweet special sister-in-law to me. She was very kind and very well mannered. She would always remember your birthday, and was very family oriented. She never married and lived at home with her parents, Clara and Saturno.
Dahlia was a sickly, delicate type of person. She always had to take medicine and had to get blood transfusions which left her with a bad arthritis condition, because blood was not tested at that time. We never knew until she passed away that she had luekemia. Her hands and fingers were so disfigured, but she managed to clean the house of a neighbor and always did her share of work around the house. Dahlia never complained about her health and always had a big beautiful smile on her face.
I remember how she would play and hug my son, who was only 9 months old when she passed, and the love she showed all of the other grandchildren. She would make me feel so special when I would visit. Dahlia was a very special lady, and even though it has been many years since she left our family, I still remember her, as if it was yesterday. God saw her getting weak and called her home.
