Anchorage resident Walter "Wally" James Anderson, 66, died Nov. 7 at Providence Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown. A graveside service will be held later this week.
Mr. Anderson was born March 2, 1926, in Ohio. He served in the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II, and moved to Anchorage after receiving his discharge in 1946 .
In his early years in Alaska , Mr. Anderson was active in dog sledding, and enjoyed trapping and hunting. He had worked as a bartender at many Fourth Avenue bars and had retired from the Bartenders Union. He also drove tour and school buses.
Mr. Anderson was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10252 in Mountain View.
He leaves no known survivors.
