| Birth: | Mar. 29, 1914 | | Death: | Feb. 17, 1944 |  World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Major in the 1st Battalion of The Lincolnshire Regiment. On February 16, 1944, Major Hoey was ordered to lead a company in an expedition near the Ngakyedauk Pas, Burma when suddenly they came under a heavy Japanese attack. Without hesitation Major Hoey stormed in the direction of the enemy fire and although severely wounded, he managed to capture the enemy position and killed its crew. He died as a result of his sustained injuries. For outstanding gallantry and leadership, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross Medal. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
