Brazosport Facts, The (Clute, TX) - June 24, 2009
Deceased Name: Wendy L. Winters

Wendy Winters of Freeport, Texas, was born on August 16, 1959, in Joliet, Illinois, and departed this life on June 17, 2009, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a sudden illness.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jeff Winters; her mother, Shirley (Edward) Kacian of Manteno, Illinois; father, Richard Boothe of Van Wert, Ohio; grandmother, Nancy Bettenhausen of Manteno, Illinois; brother, Dick (Claudia) Boothe of Grant Park, Illinois; sisters, Beth Triezenburg (Bobby Landgraf) of Tinley Park, Illinois, and Lisa Baker of Van Wert, Ohio; nephews, Ben, Bruce, Jeff, Michael and Ethan, and nieces, Sandy (Kenny), Danielle (Rich), Ashley, Amber, Heather, Brandi and Amanda; mother-in-law, Ann Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Teri Cartwright, both of Bay City. She also is survived by her "best friend in the whole wide world," Mary Howell of Lake Jackson and the Demi-John, Texas, community.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and a beloved nephew, Ricky Boothe.

Wendy loved being a nurse. After being a LVN for several years, she returned to college and in 1995 graduated from Alvin Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked at Plantation Health Care Center for more than 10 years, truly enriching the lives of the residents. Wendy had a kind and giving spirit, always ready to help a friend in need. She willingly gave of herself so others could have a better future. She supported numerous charities and cut her hair several times for "Locks of Love."

Wendy loved "deal" shopping, rebating, playing Farmtown or just visiting with friends. She enjoyed Civil War re-enactments, fishing and spending time on the beach at Surfside. She loved her dogs, Dixie and Belle. Wendy loved riding on their Harley-Davidson, and as per her request, her ashes will be scattered off the back of the motorcycle.

Wendy was full of joy and passion for life, family and friends. She has blessed the lives of everyone she knew and continues to do so with the loving memories she has given us.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Plantation Health Care Center.

There will also be a memorial on Saturday, June 27, 2009.

The family would like to express appreciation for the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
