Staff Sgt. Kenneth K. McAninch, 28, of Logansport, Ind., died Oct. 21 at Yahya Khel district, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. McAninch is survived by his wife, Shawnna R. McAninch; his children, Jeremiah McAninch, Braxton McAninch, Brayden McAninch, Colby Dugan and Shyanne Adam; and by his parents, Marvin McAninch of Logansport and Cheryl Nance of Peru. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Marvin McAninch Sr. and James Richardson; stepgrandfather, Clarence H. Downing; and stepgrandparents, Richard and Helen Nance.
