He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. He died Aug. 30 in the Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was the son of Anne (Beady) Clements Tarter of Huntington and the late Daniel R. Clements. Also surviving are his stepfather, Ed Tarter of Huntington; one sister, Danielle M. Clements of Huntington; one stepbrother, Cory Tarter (fianceé, Amy Allred); one stepsister, Heather Tarter of Marion; maternal grandmother, Betty Beady of Huntington; maternal grandfather, Marvin (Carol) Beady of Huntington;, maternal great- grandmother, Irene Beady Dunn of New Haven; paternal grandfather, Everett Clements of Huntington; and one niece, Hailey Scott of Marion. He was preceded in death by one brother, Zachary Clements; and one uncle, Jeffrey Beady.
