St. Paul's German Reformed Congregation was incorporated on September 19, 1863. In the spring of 1864 ground was broken and the cornerstone lay on the Kilbourne Road site (present site of St. Paul's). The congregation was organized in the fall of 1865. In 1869, the General Synod dropped "German." The name "United Church of Christ" became official with the adoption of the national UCC constitution on July 4, 1961. Ground was broken again on April 23, 1961, for a much-needed Educational and Fellowship Hall addition. It was dedicated on March 4, 1962. During the church addition, some of the graves needed to be moved and the old upright headstone for John George & Esther Carrick (pictured in the photos section) was removed. Later a bronze veteran's marker was placed to mark John George Carrick's grave, but it did not include any inscription for his wife, Esther Carrick, nor has any marker for her been placed as of July 2019 when their great-great-grandson, Dexter Carrick with his wife (Ginger) visited the cemetery.
