William Henry Andrew was the son of William B Andrew and Ruth Hadley; one of ten children. He was born in Clinton County, Ohio.
When the Civil War broke out, William enlisted as a Private in Co I 79th Ohio Infantry on 10 Aug 1862. He mustered out on 9 Jun 1865 at Washington D.C.
After his discharge he returned to Ohio and married Caroline Hadley on 17 Oct 1867 in Clinton County.
Caroline and William had four children: Mary Ruth, Lulie, Walter Franklin, and Edgar J.
William and Caroline were living in Clinton County, Ohio in 1870, when daughter Mary was born. In 1880 they were living and farming in northern Page County, Iowa. Daughters Mary Ruth and Lulie died prior to the 1880 Census. Sons Walter and Edgar were born.
For a period of time they returned to Clinton County, Ohio. They also lived in Clay County, South Dakota. William's youngest brother, Wilson, moved with his family to Montgomery County, Iowa.
William died in 1914 in Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa at the age of 71 years. Caroline died many years later in 1941 at the age of 95 years.
William, Caroline, Mary, and Lulie's names are on the same headstone at Villisca Cemetery.
